Edited by: Dillon Arklight on 27/03/2008 09:28:36 Heres a link to find the "true" security status of systems in EVE
http://eve.grismar.net/ssec/
Not sure how up to date it is, if anyone has a link which is known to be more accurate please feel free to post it.
Also i read your guide and id like to add ,if i may, a few tips to surviving while ratting in 0.0
The following is a few points to help you to avoid being killed by fellow players while ratting in 0.0
1. Location: Pick a system which is off any major highways and avoid systems which are frequently occupied. Use the Universe Map to see how many jumps potential ratting systems have had in the last hour to give you an idea of how frequently traveled your system is. Even if a system has 20+ belts and great spawns it's not worth it if your safe spotting every few minutes because a hostile comes into local...which leads to point 2.
2. Safe Spot: Every time a hostile comes into local warp to a safe spot and cloak(you really should have one fitted), or failing that go to a POS /Station. If you imagine that every hostile which comes into local is looking for a person ratting your wont go far wrong. Even if you see him on scanner and hes only in a frigate, you never know how many of his friends are 1 jump away.
3. Local: This really should be second nature to every 0.0 player but i will repeat it just to emphasise it KEEP AN EYE ON LOCAL. The "Local" window is your first line of defence and should be kept in plain sight always.
4. In at 100km : Warp into the belts at the greatest range your setup allows. Most scouts will warp to a belt at 0km if they believe a person is ratting there. If you rat at 100km then it will give you extra time to get out before your tackled.
5. Align : Once you in a belt then align for your safe spot as soon as you can and move at full speed (mwd/ab off). This means that as soon as a hostile appears you can warp instantly.
There are a few "advanced" rules that you can also follow to be extra safe.
6. Distance From Gate: If you can try to rat in belts which are not scannable from any gate. This means if a hostile comes into local he will not be able to tell which belt you are in without warping around the syatem. Hopefully by the time he scans all the belts you wont be in any of them but in your safe spot and cloaked.
7. Bubbles: If you planning on doing some hard core ratting , say over a few days or a week, then it may be worth putting Mobile Warp Disruption Bubbles over the gates of the system you are in. This is really only a valid option in 1 or 2 gate systems which are well out of the way. A bubble will give you extra time to safe spot if a hostile comes into local as they will have to get out of the bubble to warp to the belt you are in.
8. Alts: If you can have an alt character in the system 1 over from where you are ratting to give you advanced warning if someone is going to jump in on you. Or if your feeling brave then you will also be able to see if the hostile in local with you has any friends, if he dosent you may want to try to kill him.
Thats about all i can think of for now. Nice guide Ralara, thanks for taking the time to make it.
